I have been banking with Northwest Community Credit Union for over 20 years with no complaints. The online banking was always simple and when you deposited a check via their app, the balance was immediately available. If you transferred money, the transfer happened immediately. Not anymore. They explained that they now process deposits in batches 2x per day, which is not convenient, but I was willing to deal with it. The bigger problem, though, is when you look at your account after making a deposit, the checks don’t even show as pending when you’ve deposited them. It’s as if the deposits simply never happened. Not good. There should ALWAYS be a record of what you’re doing, every step of the way. It shouldn’t be delayed. It should show immediately. Then there’s the issue with simply trying to transfer your own money from one account to another. There should NEVER be a delay. It’s my money and it’s in my account. However, be warned that if you simply need to transfer money from one account to another, say to cover a grocery bill because you’re shopping late in the evening and realize you don’t have enough in your account, you’re out of luck. You go through the steps to transfer the money and it says “Successful.” But when you check your account, nothing is there. Absolutely no record that a transfer has taken place, because it hasn’t. So, now you’re stuck using a credit card to pay for your groceries because Peak Credit Union is holding your money hostage for absolutely no reason. This happened to my teen son as well. He needed cash in his checking account and tried to move a little from his savings account to his checking account and it simply didn’t happen. He continued to try over and over again (as I did the first time this happened) and when he checked his balance, it showed NOTHING happened. No record of the transaction at all. The next day, lo and behold, every attempt he made to transfer money suddenly shows up, which creates a huge mess because now he gets to transfer most of it back to his savings account. This is NOT ok. There is absolutely ZERO excuse for being unable to transfer your own money from one account to another. Or for it to have a massive delay like this with no visible indication that your transaction even worked. This MUST be fixed. It puts people in bad (and even unsafe/risky) situations when they can’t access their own money. What if my teen son needed gas to get home late at night? He doesn’t own a credit card and Peak Credit Union denied him access to his cash for absolutely no reason other than their app does not function properly and nobody seems to care. I have been FORCED to use a credit card to pay for a transaction because, it was late at night, and I simply couldn’t transfer my own money to my checking account. This NEVER happened before the merger. I’ve called and gone in and talked to the tellers about this and they said that shouldn’t be happening and just shrug their shoulders. No solution, just “Oh well!” My entire family will be looking for a better credit union. This is not the way any banking experience should be. Oh, and if you are overdrawn by $6, you get a $29 overdraft fee. This credit union is no better than a big bank experience. Actually, my husband has a better banking experience with Chase. Zero overdraft fees.

They made a big mistake merging with Twinstar. ATMs and online banking hardly ever work. They will hold check deposits for no reason, and if it results in fees you are required to call and ask for them to (maybe) be refunded. If you had an account with NWCU, your membership was sold and this credit union now does not care. Do business elsewhere

This once great credit union has gone down the toilet since their merger with TwinStar. I've been a member for 11 years with multiple personal and business accounts, credit cards, and car loans, and yet despite my decade plus loyalty I am now treated like someone walking off the street with no history. I've had to fight to get checks from clients deposited into my accounts without multiple week-long holds, I've had aggregious errors happen on their part resulting in the loss of almost $10,000 and then had to fight vehemently to get them to reinstate the funds they stole from me, the functionality of their apps and mobile deposit features are basically useless at this point, and I could go on and on. Merging was the biggest mistake this credit union ever made. Will be closing all my accounts and finding a new credit union before years end.
