  I went to this Branch late at night, to make a deposit, not knowing how safe the ATM area would be. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised, as there was plenty of parking near the machine, and the amount of Lights practically illuminated the place so much, that I was beginning to think that they may be able to see it from the space station! Lol! Definitely not a place where you would go unnoticed, or unseen, lots of cameras as well, and there is a nearby hamburger place that had a huge line of cars, which would have made it pretty obvious if something was going on, as you would have had a huge audience. Kudos to the bank for making this such a well-lit hand safer area.

  I have been with Columbia Bank (formerly Umpqua) since February, choosing it with my wife because it’s a smaller bank close to home. Unfortunately, we’ve had repeated negative experiences with the staff at multiple branches, particularly the Lombard location (3333 N Lombard St, Portland, OR 97217). Each month we withdraw money to pay our rent, often requesting a cashier’s check at the same time. Despite this, we are consistently questioned in a way that feels intrusive, unprofessional, borderline on interrogation, even though the purpose of the withdrawal is clear. My wife, in particular, has left many times feeling uncomfortable, as if she were doing something wrong, when all we’re doing is accessing funds from my direct deposit paycheck to pay rent. To make matters worse, cashier’s checks at Columbia cost $10 compared to $5 at Chase, so we pull cash out to save money... thats an even worse experience. After the most recent interaction, my wife is completely done with Columbia. If you are considering opening an account, I would strongly recommend looking at other banks first.

  I went to deposit $500 at the ATM, the machine took my money, stopped functioning, and sent my money back. Unfortunately, it was only $340. Immediately, I went inside and told them what had happened. They opened a dispute to give me the $160 back. I just got a letter explaining they finished their "investigation," and they will give me $145 instead of $160 because that was the amount the ATM had as difference. After six year of banking with them, I am closing my account, and I recommend everyone to look for better options. Ever since some big name absorbed them, they had lost their edge. I don't care what the broken machine had or not. I know how much I had, and I no one will try to take $15 from them. It is beyond ridiculous and unprofessional to basically steal from your client. It is not about the $15. It is about principles, and I won't do business any longer with a stablishment like this one.
