- KKKyleJan 2, 20261.0Columbia Bank has lost the 'community' feel that Umpqua used to have. This branch is particularly awful. Being told at 4:15 PM that they didn't have time to open a child's savings account was the final straw for my wife and I. They aren’t open past 5:00 and don’t even have limited hours on Saturdays making it impossible to take care of things on a regular work schedule. When you combine that with savings account interest rates that are not even remotely comparable to online banks, credit unions or t-bills there is absolutely no reason to stay any longer. We are planning on opening a series of new accounts at Onpoint in the morning to start the process of getting out of Columbia. It’s amazing that I will be able to do that on a Saturday!

On my last visit, the tellers processed my deposit incorrectly and made no attempt to confirm the transaction or correct the error. Their unprofessional behavior and lack of accountability were unacceptable. It’s unfortunate to see such a weak service mindset from a financial institution. This may explain why the bank had to merge with others in the past. Unless there are serious improvements, I wouldn’t be surprised to see further decline. I do not recommend banking here.
