Good enough for airports and voting booths... but not KeyBank
I needed cash and was next to a KeyBank, so I put my debit card into the atm machine, and it didn't give my card back. So, I went inside the bank, and they said 'oh, the machine has been eating cards all morning', and that because my card isn't a KeyBank card, they can't give it back to me- their only option is to shred it. What!? They said there was no way to verify my identity and therefore no way to ensure that they're giving the right person the right card. What?!?!
I had my wallet right there offering to show them my government issued drivers license. I also had other cards with my name on them. That's how this works- that's why we, in part, have government issued id's. So, that our identities can be verified- it works in airports, it works at voting booths, but apparently it doesn't work at KeyBank.
I tried calling customer service- no help. I tried leaving feedback on their website and the form didn't work.
If they have one such non-sensical rule, there's surely more. DON'T risk banking here. Don't interact in any way with this bank. Just go somewhere else.

Since I can not respond to the request to write an additional email. I am leaving another review. I will most definitely not be doing this due to the fact that I have already wasted a ridiculous amount of time, energy, and money into trying to resolve this. The issue I had was very clear and concise. My profile has notes and recorded phone calls. You can go back and review on your own accord. I will close my account the moment this restriction is lifted. The fact is I'm having to jump through these hoops to access my account, which, if I didn't keep asking questions, would have never been resolved.

I have been a long-time customer of Keybank, over 15 years. If I could give this branch a -5 stars, I would. I opened a business checking and savings account with this branch a month ago. I was told everything was in place, and there should be no issues accessing the account. I had given them all my business EIN and tax payer id's and even offered to email over copies, which he said he didn't need. When I went to check my account, my accounts were not there, so naturally, I called the branch and spoke to the representative who opened said accounts. He admitted that he messed up and it would take 3 days for the people in the back to fix it. Told me by July 5th that it should be resolved. On July 5th, nothing was there, and when I called back, I couldn't reach the representative. I called numerous times, left voicemails, and even had me transferred where he must have screened the call. Since then, I have been speaking with Keybank support, trying to resolve this issue. However, after now speaking with 3 different people, the woman today told me there is a restriction due to not having a complete profile. How can this happen and not mentioned for over a month?! This representative should absolutely lose his job over the inaccuracies. His total incompetence of understanding the protocol of how Keybank system works is appalling. I dont work in the financial industry, but in just speaking with Keybank representatives I feel like I am more knowledgeable when it comes to the procedures of Keybank. A robot couldve done this job, quicker, easier, and cheaper. I won't use his name, but there is only one commercial account manager at this location. Would not recommend him, Keybank, or this branch. STAY FAR AWAY. Better off banking with some Nigerian Prince with PayPal.
