- NCNicole ClouthierNov 30, 20241.0Called to inquire about my mortgage renewal, was told that if I went in to the branch, that they could give better interest rates than what I was seeing online. So, I made an appointment. Went in on November 27, and met with Diane. She was completely unorganized and unhelpful. I had to probe her with questions to get answers. She had nothing set up, aside from interest rates for different terms. Nothing ready to compare what payments would be, etc. Then she failed to mention that the rates are actually worse in person. I’m glad I was paying attention and called her out on that. Then she stated that yes, they are always better online… So, okay, total waste of time going in. Maturity date is December 1. I specifically asked “so, we are good to renew online, as long as it’s before December 1st?” Diane said yes. I go to renew online this morning, and I see that the system has already automatically renewed for a term that I did not choose! I am so stressed and upset. This is unacceptable and had better be resolved and switched to the term that my husband and I wanted to choose at the rate given online. Having to now wait to call, as TD only opens at 10am on Saturday, and it looks like I won’t even be able to speak with anyone at the branch, since it’s showing “Closed” on Saturday and Sunday. Update— I spent over an hour on the phone, getting transferred all over. I was told I can switch, but I have to wait until January 1. That’s not going to fly with me. Right around Christmas, and having to pay 8% on my mortgage is a huge difference. So, it was escalated to a manager. The manager then had to escalate it to customer care, and someone will be calling me by Tuesday apparently… TD had better make this right. I was not informed it needed to be renewed during a weekday if the renewal date falls on a weekend. Customer Care contacted me on Monday, and the representative was wonderful, and rectified all of the issues. So, very relieved about that. However, none of this should have occurred to begin with. Leaving my review at one star since the actual branch caused all of this mess.
