The process of obtaining a preapproval letter for a loan has been incredibly frustrating. I lost the opportunity to purchase a property due to what I believe is a lack of understanding and poor communication from the loan officer, Thomas Flory. I was misinformed about the required documents, with different information provided at each step instead of being asked for everything upfront. There were also false promises about the timeline. It has now been two weeks, and I still don’t have a preapproval letter, despite being told it would take just a week. Now, he can't even give me an estimate on how long it will take for the underwriters to complete their part. This experience makes me seriously question whether I should close my accounts and take my business elsewhere.

I am a homeowner/realtor who recommend the $5,000 grant program to the buyer of my home with Loan Officer Thomas Flory. He has not communicated effectively a closing date or gave updates on a consistent basis. When I contacted him July 24th in regard to closing Aug 28th (which he agreed to be possible) he informed me he didn't promise that. I asked why he didn't update the buying agent and he informed me why would he if he didn't have an update to give. My response was that I had a home I was buying and had movers scheduled for a date he agreed to and there were other people being affected by this. I informed him I was getting charged to longer it was extended. I also had to get electric and other things tended to. He said he would get his supervisor involved to get it moving. Through the whole conversation he tried to put it on the buyer agent who he wasn't communicating with. Now move to Friday July 25th and I find out we can't close on Monday Aug 28th because the buyer has documents that need to be signed. But as long as they were signed Friday, we could close Tuesday. Now here we are on Aug 28th with a closing time schedule for 10 am Aug 29th and the buyer agent had reached out to the lender for approval EARLY in the morning. Key Bank DID NOT inform anyone till 5 pm TODAY that they are not ready STILL to close at 10 am. But MIGHT be ready at 2 pm which pushes my closing date on the same day for my new home to possible 4. I have movers scheduled for the SECOND time for tomorrow at noon. EVERYBODY is ready but KEY BANK LENDER. On Friday when I spoke to Thomas, he had nerve to say "I am sorry things can't go your way" all because I needed a timeframe so I could schedule things. The buyer for my house is moving in and I need time to move out. This lender has been very unprofessional, and I will not recommend them to another realtor to use for home loans. I used USA mortgage for my home loan for my other house and it was smooth. They had EVERYTHING together in 3 weeks and been ready to close. This lender is playing with people's lives and to NOT communicate effectively is horrible. EVERYBODY I know who has bought, sold or been involved in real estate said they haven't worked with a lender who didn't have a closing date and who didn't communicate what was going on so the buyer and seller could get things tended to. KeyBank in Vandalia and Thomas Flory are very unprofessional with how they have handled this and if there were just effective communication things could of went so much smoother. NOW we are STILL waiting for a closing date with hopes it is tomorrow at 2 pm. DO NOT USE THIS BANK FOR A HOME LOAN. Horrible experience and I am the seller.

Always friendly employees. If a line, never had to wait very long. They could always answer all my questions and even give good suggestions.

Oof. I can't get anyone to help my situation that I never asked for. They reached out to me, refunded me a little money then never fixed the problem. Now here we are again. Two weeks later with the same problem. I've been with key for 3plus years and it's never been this out of wack. I'm done here ✌🏼
