For 120 years, people have come to Northwest with dreams and ambitions. Sometimes, the solutions aren't so obvious or easy. Sometimes, we have to work a little harder to find the best answer and achieve success. At Northwest, we're passionate about helping people. Connecting them with the right products and services to reach their financial goals, whether they come to us to bank, borrow, invest or plan. With locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Indiana, we take pride in our work and care about others. Because when they succeed, we succeed.
Been a customer since it was called Jamestown Savings Bank before it was Northwest. I brought my piggy bank in at 7 years old to learn how to save. I should not feel compelled after 15 years to write a negative review for predatory overdraft fees.
I called Cindy (or Cindi) at the Webster branch and was told "I can do anything I want" but also "I am only allowed to waive # number of fees".
Which one is it?
And is this how you treat customers, let alone longtime ones?
Your customers are human. I suggest you remember that you are too.
I'm disappointed in you Cindy. I would not have let you down if you called me.

I'm finding out this bank isn't supportive of racially, economically, financially challenged, or the disenfranchised.
Most reputable, community friendly, and socially responsible banks and credit unions who offer overdraft protection isn't predatory. They allow you to make one transaction at one low fee. Other banks and credit unions all you to take your overdraft from the branch or atm. They allow you to send money to Cash App, Chime, or your principal, other banks. This bank's fees and practices are designed to break and cripple customers. They want you to swipe and get cash back. They know you can't get more than $100.00 at Walmart or $50 at grocery stores. They greedily force your to pay them $40.00. for each swipe. This mean they are collecting long sharking fees on their overdraft protection. This should be examined by the New York State Department of Banking and Finances. Also, as the Department of Treasury is looking to remove ATM and other fees, this bank is cashing in on while they can. I remember they offered a great saving account plan without a minimum balance. Meaning this would allow the poor or financially challenged to save money where they can. They stopped it and made it 300.00.
As a person of color, living on a fixed income, with challenged, I would say this bank isn't motivated to service those like us who are financially challenged.
While this branch has very friendly, extremely competent and very knowledgeable employees, who know their employer's products and services, the bank's overall policies doesn't allow them to offer their best of human interactions and service.
If you have direct deposit and they have your funds in their possession but haven't released it into your account, It's foul they charge fees for you to use your overdraft protection.
Basically, I should have researched this bank rather than take the word of the attorney who recommended them.

Best customer service I've *ever* had at a bank. They greeted me by name the second time I walked in!! Plus, their accounts are very friendly to customers (virtually no fees, etc). Check them out!! I've been a customer since 2016, and I have *never* had a complaint with them!
