However, it turns out it wasn’t actually closed. A month later, I was shocked to see that my account went into a negative balance because the bank charged a monthly maintenance fee on what I thought was a closed account. When I went back to the branch to fix the issue, they told me they couldn’t credit the fee or close the account because it now had a negative balance — a problem entirely caused by their mistake. This has been extremely frustrating and inconvenient. I expected more professionalism and accountability from a bank.
