But when you are waiting on line and there is someone behind the teller desk chatting with the teller who is providing service and two other people go in and out behind the desk, chatting briefly with the other person behind the desk (not sure what she was doing) it is a little frustrating to wait. For sure, the folks not assisting are doing other jobs, but good customer service would be to acknowledge the customers in line with some gratuitous chit chat (how are you today?; Sorry for your wait; blah blah will be with you momentarily). But to just walk by a line of people multiple times is rude and it is forgetting why you are at work...the customers.
