My encounter there left me feeling as though I was unjustly treated like a suspect rather than a valued client. My simple request to withdraw a significant sum of money from my account, which I intended to use for an out-of-state vehicle purchase, was met with an inexplicable and distressing refusal. When I initially approached the teller (whom I choose not to name), I requested to withdraw a substantial amount in hundred-dollar bills. I was informed, with a semblance of politeness, that due to the holiday season, the branch was running low on large denominations. However, they could provide a majority of the amount in smaller bills. Accepting this constraint, I left the bank momentarily and returned shortly to proceed with the withdrawal. The process started typically – I inserted my debit card and entered my PIN without issue. The teller then requested my driver’s license for verification, which I promptly provided. This is where the situation took an unprofessional turn. The teller, along with another teller and a banker, retreated to the back with my license, only to return and claim they couldn’t verify its authenticity. My withdrawal slip, which I had completed under her guidance, was then nonchalantly torn up in front of me. I inquired about the reason for this rejection, but received no clear explanation. What compounded my frustration was the teller’s complete lack of initiative to resolve the situation. She did not seek alternative methods of identity verification, such as asking for my Social Security number, the names on my accounts, or my birthdate – basic protocols that could have easily confirmed my identity. This experience was not only inconvenient but also deeply insulting. Being denied access to my own funds, especially when I needed them urgently for a significant purchase, is unacceptable. The lack of professionalism and respect shown to me, a loyal customer for over a decade, is a serious issue. It reflects poorly on the bank’s customer service standards and raises concerns about their ability to handle customer needs effectively.
