- SSSakeenaFeb 18, 20251.0I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this Flagstar Bank branch and feel compelled to share my experience to hold the staff accountable. I have been a loyal customer of this branch for years, even before its transition from NYCB to Flagstar Bank. As a Black woman and a successful entrepreneur who owns five beauty salons and medspas across Queens, NY, and Chicago, IL, I was initially excited to open a business account here after receiving great service with my personal checking account. Branch Manager Paul had always been welcoming, making me feel valued as a customer. However, my recent encounter with an employee named Bebe was deeply troubling and unacceptable. During a routine withdrawal, I was informed by Bebe that I could not access my own funds because my requested amount required a two-day processing period. While I completely understood this policy, I then requested a smaller amount in compliance—yet I was still denied access to my funds without justification. This was the first time I had ever encountered such an issue. What made matters worse was the demeanor and attitude with which I was treated. Bebe seemed more concerned about “covering herself” and “saving her job” than providing adequate service to a longstanding customer. Denying me access to my own money—especially as a business owner who relies on these funds to pay employees, contractors, and other business expenses—is completely unacceptable. When I expressed my frustration in a calm but firm manner, she claimed I was “yelling” and attempted to paint herself as a victim, rather than addressing the issue professionally. She dismissively encouraged me to file a complaint, which was both unprofessional and dismissive of a serious concern. This experience has led me to believe that this branch engages in discriminatory practices, particularly against people of color and non-English speakers. No customer should ever feel profiled, mistreated, or denied access to their own money without valid reasoning. I have already opened a formal complaint with customer service and will no longer be conducting business at this location. I strongly urge Flagstar Bank to re-evaluate the staff at this branch and ensure that all customers are treated fairly and respectfully, regardless of race or background. If you are a business owner or professional of color, I strongly advise against banking at this branch. They must be held accountable.
