We offer many great products and services, but our auto loan rates are the lowest around. We have thousands of members that have refinanced their car loans with us and have saved members over one million dollars over the years. We launched our Student Checking account, which has many perks and benefits designed 100% for young adults.
I (and I am sure many others) just received a letter indicating Advantage Credit Union’s marketing software (Marquis) resulted in my SSN and other PII being leaked by ransomware. This means Advantage shared my MOST SENSITIVE personal data with a marketing company I have never heard of, who apparently store or process credentials in a format that allowed bad actors to gain access to them.
I am a software engineer by trade. This kind of irresponsible data handling is shameful and disturbing. Why does a marketing company need my social security number in the first place, and why did Advantage deem it appropriate to share it with them?
Data leaks and breaches happen, it’s an unfortunate part of today’s digital landscape; HOWEVER, when it happens because a company shares your most sensitive personal financial data with a third party marketing and analytics firm that is irrelevant to the service they are providing you, it is inexcusable.
I urge no one to do business with this company. I certainly never will again.

I’ve never been part of such a bank that just completely robs you and is completely useless. If you care about yourself and your money please never ever bank with them. Their over draft fees are wrongly charged constantly and they are $36 which is ridiculously high and I’ve never seen a bank higher than $10 before. The customer service is useless and rude. This bank is nothing but terrible don’t ever bank with them if you care about your finances. They do not care about you or your money in the absolute slightest.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at the Gates branch. To begin, upon arriving for our scheduled loan closing appointment, my husband and I were completely ignored—an experience that, looking back, set the tone for the rest of our visit. One employee even walked right past us on their way to lunch without acknowledging us. After waiting in the lobby for about 15 minutes without any sign of assistance, we decided to approach the teller line to find out what was going on. Given the low volume of customers, it was surprising that none of the desk staff took a moment to check in with us; only one staff member was actually attending to a customer.
Later when engaging with the assistant manager, not only did she present herself in an unprofessional manner and attire but also behaved in a similarly unhelpful way. It seemed that the two individuals we interacted with (the assistant and universal banker) had likely never worked in a professional environment and lacked the emotional intelligence required in the banking industry. Their behavior suggested they would be better suited for roles that do not involve direct customer interaction, and one that would require very little critical thinking-possibly in a completely different field like food service or a factory assembly line.
It was particularly frustrating to witness such a lack of understanding regarding basic banking services. This gap in knowledge likely contributed to our inability to engage effectively with anyone locally. When we sought assistance, the "assistant manager" also coldly remarked, "I’m busy with other things," instead of helping us resolve a straightforward issue that required basic common sense. Even when we proposed a potential solution, she was unable to assist us and demonstrated a lack of both understanding and authority.
The only positive aspect of our visit was the friendly security guard outside, who kindly opened the door for us as we entered. We have since reached out to the CEO to make him aware of this situation, as it’s essential for someone in authority to recognize the concerning service standards—or lack thereof—at this branch.
In today’s banking landscape, where exceptional customer service can distinguish one institution from another, our experience revealed a shocking lack of service—essentially nonexistent.
Having maintained a significant lending relationship with this institution for over 10 years, the treatment we received was far from reflective of the value of that relationship. As a result, we elected to withdraw our request and are now moving our lending to a bank that genuinely values each account holder and their experience.
