    I want to be clear up front: the staff at this branch were professional and genuinely tried to help. My issue is with Wells Fargo’s fraud/online-access process. I attempted to use Zelle (not for the first time) and was told the transfer needed to be reviewed “for my security” and could take up to four hours. Shortly after, I was logged out. When I tried to log back in, I got a message saying my online access was disabled and that I needed to call the fraud department. I called and was told the office was closed and to call back at 7:00 a.m. The next morning, the representative spoke in an accusatory tone and asked if I was traveling and where I was. I told them I was at home in my living room. They required me to upload a photo of my driver’s license through the secure app (which I did), and then still required me to show up at a branch with two forms of official ID. I went to the 3rd Ave & 58th St branch when it opened, explained everything again, and presented my driver’s license and passport. The staff called the fraud number and tried to resolve it. After back-and-forth, I was told Wells Fargo’s records showed my information was accessed from another state and that they needed to investigate — and that my online access would not be restored until a date in late January (roughly two weeks). Even the branch employees seemed surprised by that timeline and tried again, including escalating the issue, but were told the same thing. Later, I saw a missed call from the bank with no voicemail, and the next day I received an auto-generated email saying the case was closed. The end result is that I can’t access my accounts online, can’t use Zelle, and have no clear path to resolution unless I physically go to a branch. Again, this isn’t a complaint about the branch staff — it’s a complaint about an unreasonable and broken process that treats a verified customer this way.

    Some helpful people at this branch stayed on a little later on Monday afternoon to help me recover my locked account that I needed access to after a recent robbery. Thank you!
