UPDATE: On 10/7 I received an email from my landlord that they received a check from the same TD Bank account whose check bounced last month thus incurring a fee for me. The TD branch manager’s 7/24 letter states that the account is being closed and that checks received after 8/8 will be returned. I was advised to discontinue writing additional checks but I stopped writing checks long ago. The only checks sent from my account was an automatic bill pay that the bank itself sends. Despite their own letter stating not to send checks after 8/8, TD continues to send rent checks from my closed account apparently in retaliation for my negative online reviews. They sent a check in September which bounced and incurred a fee. I complained to both state and federal regulators about this Canadian bank which prompted a response from TD stating they would refund me the fee and had stopped sending rent checks as of September. However, they then sent a rent check to my landlord in October. Also, I have yet to receive their promised refund from sending the bounced September check. I’m tired of their lies. They need to stop sending checks from an account that has been closed for months and accept that my negative online reviews (which I am updating for this) are not coming down despite their continued harassment.
Original review: Avoid this branch and its apathetic reps. When opening a CD, the rep told me the signature card with SSN, etc. had to be signed electronically. Even though the bank had my email on file, the rep repeatedly cited an incorrect address off by one letter as the one she used twice. I asked that the system be checked to confirm to which address the emails with my info were sent and that they be resent right then to my correct email. I was told that wasn’t possible but right after I left the branch, the emails were indeed sent to my correct address.
The following day I posted a negative Yelp review about this branch and said I would be closing my accounts and switching to Chase across the street. Three days later, in retaliation, I received a letter from the TD branch manager stating that they were giving me 15 days notice they were closing my checking account on 8/8 even though my online review said I'd be closing it. The letter was sent after it was dated. Therefore, I did not receive the notice they claimed and filed a complaint with federal and state regulators. The subject of the letter from TD was my checking account and the letter stated that account alone would be closed. In the meantime, I was told I could not close my new CD without incurring a large penalty.
Derek Killam from TD responded to my complaint in a letter dated 8/11 which, like the manager’s, was sent after it was dated. I received it on 8/16; it included no contact info for him. In it he said my accounts (plural) would be closed out on 8/14 and I would not be charged an early closeout penalty on the CD. Since the letter was received after the 8/8 deadline, it was too late as I had already closed the checking & savings accounts and CD which included interest and no penalty despite my being told that TD would not allow that.
On 9/16 I received an email from my landlord that a 9/3 check was mailed to them by TD and bounced thus incurring a $35 fee. TD automatically sent the check weeks after the account was closed, knowing full well that this would cost me a fee. Since Derek didn’t bother to include his contact information, I once again complained to US federal and state regulators about this Canadian bank. As a result of those complaints, TD was forced to pay the bounced check fee caused by their incompetence. The Chase branch across the street, where I am now banking, offers much better customer service and a more welcoming environment for gay, seniors like myself.

Alyasia was super RUDE get her out of customer care. She is not a nice person. I called for directions and I couldn't understand as the phone was staticky and she was rude from that moment. When I arrived she asked ‘where you the one who called ‘ I said ‘Yes’ and she RUDELY said ‘Figures’ I asked what does that mean? And she never answered me and refused to service me because
the corporation I work for ‘I didnt have the account number’ I told her we bank here daily for many years and I also said that my manager will give me the number. I called my manager and he was so upset on how I was treated he said ‘I will come personally we have been banking with them for years’ she didnt even ask for the company name. Please retrain her on customer care and empathy, also she has a very angry face. Not a pleasant approach! I will never return and I am hoping my employer changes banks.
