- MMM MSep 13, 20251.0I went into the 171 East 72nd Street location to access my own funds. I was left standing at the teller window with no privacy while my financial information was discussed out loud in front of other customers. When I approached personal banker Ms. Sanjida Anwar, she refused to greet me, refused to look at me, and treated me with open disrespect.Instead of assisting me, she accused me of fraud activity, questioned where my money came from, and even said it was “unlikely” when i told her i worked for it. This was degrading, humiliating, and deeply offensive. Her tone and treatment made it very clear that she does not take African American customers seriously and felt comfortable speaking to me in a way she would not have with others.(Mind you the area is predominantly elderly and Caucasian)She refused to even help me ,or assist me in finding help… told me to go to my original bank!What’s worse is that her associates sat by and allowed this disgusting behavior. After leaving embarrassed, I called Citi customer service — and in minutes, they confirmed my account was fine and helped me without question. This proves Ms. Anwar gave me false information and denied me service.I’ve been a loyal Citi customer for over a decade,I handle finances with personal bankers frequently and never experienced this before even lack of privacy..but this experience has permanently destroyed my trust in this bank. No one should be subjected to racial profiling and humiliation at their own bank! I chose to take my business and finances elsewhere!
