On August 20, I went to the Newton Plaza TrustCo branch to make a name change to an account and order checks. As of today, September 10, I had still not received the checks. I went to the Wolf Road branch today to inquire about the checks and after investigating, it was discovered that the name change was not completed and the checks were never ordered. I should have trusted my gut when I sat down with Joel to take care of this transaction---it was obvious he was ill at ease in doing his job. He seemed to not even have a handle on how to work his computer and he called over a colleague to assist him several times. Joel was not familiar with the papers I gave him for the name change--he had no grasp of how to complete this business. His handling of paperwork that included sensitive information was sloppy and I worry that these papers have not been properly tended to. Today, the Wolf Road branch sorted out this situation to make it right, and it took a good bit of time for Joel to respond to the Wolf Rd manager, supplying the manager with what he needed to put a pin on the transaction. TrustCo should not have someone in a manager position like this. I find out 3 weeks after the fact that a trip I made to the bank accomplished nothing! I don't believe that my situation is an isolated one. As a customer, when I go to the bank, I'm thinking that the people you have sitting behind the desks are the best you've got, that they have earned their title, and I should trust that they know how to handle the business that comes their way. I am wrong. Going forward I will trust my gut.
