My car was hit by a driver who ran a stop sign, and at first the agent was very helpful, even recommending a "better" collision shop that USAA was affiliated with. After 2 weeks of back and forth with USAA and the collision shop (each one blaming the other for the delay) I finally was able to have the car declared as totaled. Another week later and I'm still fighting with USAA to remove the totaled vehicle from my policy! It's been sitting in a junkyard for 3 weeks, I certainly don't want to pay for insurance on it! Then when I bought a new car, rather than graciously helping me transfer insurance coverage to it, a simple phone call turns into more time spent on hold than being helped :( This experience was terrible and I will be shopping around for a new insurance company for sure.
