Just made a trip to the ATM and a “lady” ran to the door and was ready to lock it. I understand I have a hoodie on, the temp is in the 40s with feel like in the 30s. I cannot help my skin complexion or being tall. Almost made me feel like less of a person but people have been doing this my whole life.

So I've been going to this specific Ridgewood Savings Bank branch for years, since I was a little kid. My first ever savings account was opened at this branch and I have gone on to open several more accounts. However, an incidence I had yesterday (July 17th, 2020) with the new assistant manager Regis is really making me rethink why I am a customer here. So yesterday, I went to the bank with my youngest sister who is 12-year-old, and when we got to the bank, we were informed by Regis about the 4 person capacity limit in the branch in accordance with new COVID-19 safety procedures and that since we were a party of two, my sister and I had to wait until two people exited the branch before coming in. That was all fine and my sister and I abided by this procedure. Then when another gentleman, who came after my sister and I, tried to enter the branch, I told him that he would have to wait outside due to the new COVID-19 capacity limits. However, after telling the gentleman this, Regis tried to yell at me saying that I could not tell someone that they cannot enter the branch, even though Regis himself was preventing my sister and I from entering the branch. And with this, Regis tried to have the gentleman that came after me and my sister come into the branch before us, because capacity at that point allowed for one person to come in not two. This encounter with Regis made my entire banking experience yesterday feel uncomfortable, so I called the bank today (July 18th, 2020) to speak to him about why that incidence with him made me disgruntled. And instead of expressing remorse or apologeticness for the way he treated me and my sister by trying to have the gentleman behind us skip us, he agrued with me on the phone and tried to blame the COVID-19 capacity limits for why he tried to have the gentleman behind us skip me and my sister. Ultimately, I had to get my mother on the phone with him to break down to him everything that went wrong on his part with that incidence and he did apologize to her. However, it took pulling teeth for him to apologize to me, even though it was me and my sister that he treated poorly. Overall, Regis has terrible customer service skills for an assistant manager, and I believe that this branch was much better before he arrived two years ago. The previous manager before him was so good with all the customers and it was sad to see him go! I hope Regis learns some customer service skills or is replaced with a better assistant manager because he really sucks with the customers that come into this branch. Sidenote: Elaine and the rest of the tellers at this branch have always been good. It brings me joy to come in and catch up with Elaine. She is truly the sweetest person at that branch!
