- LLL LJan 26, 20151.0I went into this bank to find out about American Express Travelers Cards. AmEx stopped selling travelers checks a few years ago and I just needed a travelers card as a relative had given me some cash for a move and I didn't want to be walking around, staying in motels with a wad of cash. First, they lied to me. Like aggressively lied to me. They told me AmEx no longer has travelers cards. I know the people working for Wells Fargo are just doing what their awful, awful corporate overlords tell them to do but this is a bold-face lie. AmEx still has travelers cards. I could have gotten one at a Key Bank or GBCU. They insist on making small talk, threatening you with surveys -- both phone and online -- and generally do everything they possibly can to make your 8 minute trip to the bank last two hours. I FINALLY walked out of this place with a regular Wells Fargo checking, which I DID NOT want, and was told it was a "travel account" which I could cancel at any time. Another lie. After I moved, it took me three phone calls to Wells Fargo's 1-800 and going into another branch to close my acct. If you enjoy strong-arm, aggressive sales tactics and having every trasnaction take 5 times as long as any other bank, go here.
