Wells Fargo branch to cash a check and told there was no hold. They cashed part of it and deposited the rest, but the next day your account was overdrawn. Despite multiple calls and visits, received conflicting information from different employees and branches. Three people tried to tell me that the check had not cleares a call to the person who issued the check with the issuing bank confirmed the check had cleared, yet Wells Fargo kept it on an extended system hold, causing overdrafts and financial hardship. The bank offered no accountability for their staffs ignorance—only apologies—and even their “expedited” resolution will take 10 business days. The lack of knowledge and miscommunication of the staff is shocking and caused unnecessary damage. I was also informed there was no way for Wells Fargo to verify the receipt of those funds, pretty scary if they cant check their own receiving.

The bank has staff that give inaccurate misleading information which causes catastrophic impacts and then you are left on a wild goose chase. They cause an overdraft and will not fix it and then gave more false information that the other parties funds did not clear. Upon checking the funds did clear and was not the reason at all for this hold. They made a mistake and all they can say is sorry and not remedy the situation although funds are already in their possession. 4 phone calls 2 branches visits all filled with false information luckily I had the sense to voice record all of them so that the office that issued the check could witness what was said. Knowing the damage that it has caused, all that is said is sorry and it will be escalated have not heard since the escalation. Truly a news worthy report on this.

Never give itemized receipt when depositing cash! And then tell you that your short on the amount you are depositing. Thank you for nothing Amanda Humphrey
