  Today I visited the Wells Fargo branch in West Orange to deposit a check in excess of $5,000 into my account. The teller assisting me, Rubeya, attempted to contact the issuing bank to verify the check and ultimately declined to accept the deposit with no reason given. I was not provided with a clear explanation as to why the deposit could not be processed, nor was I offered alternatives such as depositing the check with a standard hold, escalation to a supervisor or guidance on next steps. The interaction felt abrupt and left me uncertain about Wells Fargo’s policy regarding large check deposits. As a former bank teller, I understand that additional review may be required for higher-dollar checks. However, I expected clearer communication and consistency with standard banking procedures and better customer service practices. This was simply a DEPOSIT. I have been with Wells Fargo for over 10 years. This was such a disgusting experience. I am requesting clarification on Wells Fargo’s policy for large check deposits and an explanation as to why this deposit could not be accepted under those guidelines. Rubeya, do better.

  Truly the worst exoerience ever. I wanted to deposit a check in the amount of $8000 written to my late sister into her estate account. I was first told that it wasn't possable, I needed to have the check written to the Estate of. I then asked to speak with a premier or relationship banker. He comes out and tells me I should be greatful that he is meeting with me and goes on to tell me they can't deposit the check. I then ask to speak with the branch manager who tells me that the check, written on a Wells Fargo account needs to be verified. Mind you, this isn't a cashiers check for which verification is required. After 30 minutes of needless inconvience the check was finally deposited into my account in excess of $400,000. Upon returning to my hotel I contacted the local branch and was told that the West Orange branch was wrong and apologized and will issue a complaint on my behalf. Aviod the West Orange branch at all costs. They are truly incompetant and have no concept of customer service
