Awful experience trying to cash my monthly $30 check. Never an issue the last 50 or so times I’ve done it, as I write my account number on back of check and they verify on computer. This time there was mass panic on their part. Woman said they couldn’t find anyone to vouch for me- no idea what that even means. 15 minutes later she asked for a drivers license which seemed to calm her. Total almost 20 minutes to cash a 30 check. Not inspiring.

If there was ever a branch to be targeted for fraud, THIS WOULD BE THE BRANCH!
Have been a Provident customer since late 1990’s and I physically go to brach about once per month.
Most recent transaction was a business check deposit and a small cash withdrawal.
Provided my drivers license as ID for transactions.
Teller proceeded to ask “What’s your address? I need it for security”
I responded, “The same as the address on the drivers license I just handed you. Isn’t that the address in the system?”
Teller, “yes”
I then provided two additional ID cards (one state, one federal ID) as additional reference material.
Teller, “I’ve never seen you before. What’s the name of the company you work for? I need it for security.”
“I’ve been coming to this branch once per month for the past 24 years. The name of my company is the name on the check I just handed you for deposit.”
Teller, “yes, OK!”
Considering closing my account. If this is the level of “Security” provided all customers are in grave danger.
