Really really bad service at this branch.
Update: Got a call from the branch to verify what actually went on.I appreciate their approach and hope that provident bank will look into their 'customer identity' policy to mitigate such events.

Very bad experience,
I have been customer with Provident last 15 years, I am doing most of my transactions by online, very rare went for cash withdrawal.
On 4/05/2024 I went to this bank located on Englishtown Rd, Spotswood. The representative ( name: Renney ) ask for ID, I provided my my license along with bank card, she wasn’t not able to verify my ID, then ask for social in front of other persons ( which is very ridiculous, she doesn’t have any sense to ask and speak my privacy in front of others) , I provide my social write on paper, still she was not able to verify, I was providing my previous address still she was not happy to serve. Then she asked my last transaction, I provided that with today’s transaction still she was not able to verified. At the last I was giving my balance to verification, still not satisfied.
She is (idiot) asking my passport or citizenship card, which obviously I didn’t carry with mr when I was returning from work .
At the last after this much I try to give information regarding my account, she didn’t help.
I never seen this type wired behavior or uneducated representative.
I am having my another accounts with TD bank , this type of customer service forcing to go with another good bank.
I would not prefer everyone , please do not go or do any transaction particular bank located at Englishtown Rd, Spotswood.
Overall you will see unsatisfactory.

Their overall communication and customer care can be greatly improved. The people at this branch are very nice but these critiques I have are out of their hands just to make it clear. The problem is the overall Provident Bank itself and how they operate. If you have long term customers who have had bank accounts with you for years and a customer tells you they're having financial issues and filing for bankruptcy, especially due to the pandemic, why keep charging them overdraft fees if you know they can't pay them? They send me a letter saying they have closed the account due to the outstanding balance I had. Months after my account had been closed with them my employer had sent several checks to Provident in my name. Instead of sending the money back to my mailing address or employer and telling them I did not have an account with them they deposited money they said I owed them. Here's the issue with that (for anyone who is currently filing bankruptcy this is helpful to know and I learned from this experience) even if a creditor is not listed and you qualify for a Chapter 7 discharge (which I did) all debt incurred prior to filing is included. The monies taken by them from the checks that were accidentally sent to them should be immediately returned. Provident states they don't know anything about that and can't return my money at this time. Failure for Provident to return the money is a violation of the automatic stay and a bankruptcy firm can and will pursue them for sanctions. When Provident received my checks they should have called me directly and spoken to me about this. I never found out they had my money until I contacted my employer to check into what was going on with my payments. Now Provident is causing a delay in me receiving my checks. These delays can cause late fees to occur if one is relying on a paycheck to pay living expenses. Can I charge Provident a late fee or inconvenience fee for all the trouble they caused me? They are so quick to charge customers for things but when they make a mistake there is no consequence for them to fix or address that error. 1 star for this bank. And I will be letting people know not to use this bank too.
