As someone whose first language is not English, I sometimes struggle to understand everything and usually rely on asking questions or using a translator. At other banks, staff are patient and respectful, but here it was the opposite. The employee’s attitude was extremely unprofessional. Instead of helping, she made me feel unwelcome and even went so far as to complain behind my back about how exhausting it was to talk to me while I was still sitting there. It was humiliating and felt discriminatory I’ve opened accounts at other banks before and always received kindness and understanding, but this was by far the worst banking experience I’ve ever had. If English is your first language, consider yourself lucky, because this bank clearly doesn’t care about treating non-native speakers with the same respect. Now I realize that if you don’t speak English, you’re not even worthy of opening a bank account here.
