  During a recent visit to First Bank to cash a check, I encountered a policy that was both inconvenient and somewhat perplexing. Despite traveling a considerable distance to cash a check issued by First Bank itself, I was informed that the bank has a policy of cashing checks for non-customers only up to $500 as a courtesy. This limitation seemed arbitrary and particularly restrictive, given that the check was from First Bank. The staff, including a teller and a banker, did their best to assist me within these constraints. However, the Branch Manager's approach left much to be desired. His demeanor was cold and lacked empathy for my situation. While he explained that the check-cashing policy was a matter of courtesy, this did little to alleviate the inconvenience caused. Furthermore, I was informed that opening an account with First Bank would entail a 9-day waiting period for check clearance. This policy adds another layer of inconvenience for potential customers. Overall, my experience highlighted a significant gap in customer service and flexibility in banking policies at First Bank. While the staff tried to be helpful within the limits of their policy, the rigidity of these rules and the lack of understanding from the management was disappointing. It's imperative for banks to balance policy enforcement with customer care, something that was notably lacking in my interaction with First Bank.
