- QFQuinton FleshmanSep 22, 20251.0I called Security National Bank ahead of time to confirm whether I could exchange euros for U.S. dollars. The employee on the phone told me yes, it could be done directly at their branch. I walked over a mile from my home to get there in the midst of ongoing construction, only to be told in person that the information I had been given was completely wrong. Instead, I was told I’d need to go through another third-party company, pay a $40 fee, and even have an account with them. For context, I only have €60, so a $40 fee would take nearly the entire amount, leaving me with next to nothing. On top of that, the way this was explained felt dismissive, as if the staff were more interested in brushing me off than helping me find a real solution. It’s very unprofessional to give out incorrect information over the phone, cause someone to waste their time and effort traveling to the branch, and then provide a “solution” that makes no sense financially. This experience was frustrating, disappointing, and showed a lack of care.

I felt bad for arriving late, but Bonnie Jacobs, the branch manager on duty, was welcoming, fast, and friendly. This is the kind of excellent service I wanted to see in my new bank. I have never had this issue with any other bank or credit union of which I am a customer/member.
