For the most part. I love the convenience and friendly staff. But waiting pending transaction, takes forever.

I don't bank here much since I have been a S.E.C.U. customer my entire life, but I recently took a second job that pays me with checks from this establishment. I decided to go inside the downtown branch to cash it. This has to be the worst banking experience of my life. No hello upon entering; but then again, Im used to the S.E.C.U. way of doing things. After stepping up to the counter and handing him my check I could tell immediately there was going to be a problem. The way he looked at me like gum under his shoe was the least of it. Now, granted, I had just spent over an hour at H2Go detailing my car. And I was sweaty and dirty. I stood as he called 5 different numbers just to confirm that I was "allowed to have" the check. I was in shock. (Im still in shock!) After being informed "to cash the check" he hung up. I said "so I guess I didn't steal the check" his response was "well, yeah I guess" EXCUSE ME!!! Just because I don't look like the kind of customer your used to having doesn't make me wrong!! And don't give me that crap about "it's policy" as I'm sure you're about to. My mother-in-law banks here as does my boss. Neither of them have EVER heard of this action unless it's from a customer out of state or suspected theft. It was wrong. It was stereotyping and not good customer service!!

I go to a lot of banks as a factor of my job and I say this respectfully as constructive criticism: First Citizens will not be able to keep up with the other banks (specifically Wells Fargo, Truist, and BofA) at this level of service. The account representative was not informed and cut me off multiple times to share information that was incorrect. I am not frustrated at the representative, but on principle that experience defeats the purpose of having an account representative. Having a representative that is under-informed AND inhospitable (one of those traits alone would be passable) makes an appointment invaluable. The training department should be more thorough, I don’t necessarily blame the representative themselves. As one last note, none of the tellers were welcoming, kind, or conversational. Every other bank achieves this flawlessly and it’s a staple of the bank experience. Consistent hospitality is an easily achievable goal and the store is harming itself by not striving for it. None of the staff appears to like their job, which may not be their fault, but it is nonetheless obvious and unpleasant. I do not interact with the physical store all that often so I am not personally bothered by this experience, but from a business standpoint this is unsustainable. Management needs to up their game.

The heavy set guy, with the glasses and mustache... Extremely rude and unhelpful. I will not go back to this bank.
