A not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its members, SECU has been providing employees of the State of North Carolina and their families with consumer financial services for over 80 years.
I had lost my job that I had for 8 years and got a little behind on my car payments and other accounts. Here's the thing. I don't have a card to access my savings yet. I have an account open. My checking was closed down because my direct deposit from my state job kept going to that account that they said I could not have money going to. I paid my car payment up once I got my first state check. It has become a very cold bank. Some people are rude. I don't know why I have to go every payday to go pay on my bills because I can't transfer funds into account so I have to go into the bank to pay my car payment. I'm telling you if you ever go through hard times. This is not the bank you want to be at. They are not loyal at all. Once again I don't understand why I have to go to the bank every payday to pay on my debts which is caught up. Go figure.
They used to be an amazing bank but not anymore. Stay away

I'm not sure if you can just walk in and open an account, because it's a credit union. But if you can, this is a beautiful banking institution. I went in there just to make a payment on a friend's mortgage and it is very nice looking and the lady that helped me was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
