If i could give 0 stars, i would. Worst bank i have ever experienced. My husband and i own our own business and unfortunately we got scammed with a fake check. It cleared so we weren't aware at first but as soon as we were made aware, we tried to make it right. We only spent like 5% of the money to begin with but offered to pay it back immediately. This was talked about in person at our local branch in Hendersonville NC. The lady we spoke with said "it happens" and not to even worry about it, that they would just "write it off". Again, we offered to pay back what we did spend. So a couple days go by and we get a call from the corporate office stating they want to "cancel our business relationship and close our account". Of course we weren't happy, we liked the fact that our bank was close by and thought we were just going to move on... but we did understand so we went ahead and switched banks. Well, a couple of weeks went by and we get a letter in the mail FROM A CREDIT AGENCY stating our "case" was sent to them. Like, really? We worked with them as much as possible and they declined our money all so they could sent it to collections?? And guys, this was not a substantial amount, I'm talking a couple hundred dollars, maybe. Wow. Just wow. I've never in my life felt so disrespected by a bank or any place, really. Needless to say, we learned our lesson. Anyone looking for a new bank, go elsewhere. Nothing but a headache, i promise ya. We could have made this right in the first place but i guess they were bored or something. Life is hard enough on people as it is right now. Thanks First Citizens ~ we'll never forget ya!

I signed up for a free checking account back in September. January 14, 2021 i got a $12 calculate set up or something like that charge. This is the first tine I've gotten that charge and they tell me (when i call them about this charge; after having my debit card hack 3 times since importing the account) that it's a service fee... well when i signed up i wad under them impression that i was signing up for a free checking. Then they tell me I'm on a select checking account which required you to have $1500 a month or a "DIRECT DEFROST" of at least $250 a week set up or you're charged $12. Well first off like i said, i signed up for a free account (at the main office off church street) now i have bilateral calcaneal fractures (both feet are broke) i get $262.51 deposited every Wednesday and have been since i opened the account and my worker's compensation uses ZELLE to do this(which First Citizens Bank offers this to direct deposit my money from the workers comp into my checking) now in my mind if I'm having my employer send me my money electronically (because you know we live in an electronic time) that is "DIRECT DEPOSIT" well guess what? That's not the case. Even though the bank has special buttons set up and advertise it, as well as my workers comp claim; it's not considered "Direct deposit" they have my account all messed up now!!! Why would i sign up for an account that had a minimal balance requirement of $1500 when right now I'm only getting $1000 a month?????? These people are out to take the poor man's money!!!!!! Go some where else!!!!
