Id give no stars if I could. I was given misinformation and was tricked into signing up for a business credit card. This review is more reflective of the customer service I received via Truist’s call center rather than this branch but I opened my account at this branch. I’m writing the review here because if had to do it all over again I would have steered clear of Truist. I wanted my business checking account to have overdraft protection in the event timing is off and my books aren’t balanced (if you overdraft, you will be charged a hefty $36 per transaction fee which adds up quickly). I was told Truist couldn’t put protection on the card itself (so transactions are declined when funds aren’t available) but if I signed up for a Truist business credit card, overdrafts would be put on the credit card with a much smaller fee per transaction than $36 (maybe $10). This seemed like a good plan so I signed up for a credit card making my intentions clear that it was to be for overdraft protection, I had no intention of using it for anything else. They sent me the card in the mail and Someone from Truist called me every two weeks telling me I had to make a small purchase on the card or it would be shut down. Ok, I thought, that’s fine and makes sense so I did do that and thought all was going well. Fast forward to 3 months later. 3 transactions on my checking account overdrafted (two transactions were for $5 and one was for $200). When I checked my account, each transaction had accrued a $36 overdraft fee equating to $108. I deposited money to cover the negative balance and called Truist customer service to ask for a refund of the fees pointing out the bank error (my credit card was supposed to protect me from accruing fees). I found out, to my surprise, that my credit card “was not linked to my checking account for overdraft protection.” I was shocked. While on the phone the representative assured me he had linked the card so this wouldn’t happen in the future and then transferred me to his supervisor to discuss refunding the 3 overdraft fees. After an hour on the phone and being transferred 2x I was told my type of credit card “could not be linked for overdraft protection” (keep in mind during this same phone call, I was told my credit card WAS linked for OD protection). So now, 3 representatives (two who were involved with signing me up for the credit card and the one on the phone who transferred me to their supervisor have all told me it was linked). This was disappointing as the representative who helped me sign up for the credit card knew the one and only reason I wanted it was for overdraft protection. The supervisor told me the overdraft fees were not “bank error” because my credit card was not the type that could be linked to provide overdraft protection and they would not be refunding the fees. My mind is completely boggled that 3 representatives can tell me my credit card is linked only to find out it never was and never can be and they won’t accept responsibility for the misinformation. If 3 representatives at Truist can give misinformation regarding this simple process, I can’t imagine what else could happen down the road that they won’t take accountability for. I’m withdrawing my business from Truist and want to warn others about a dysfunctional (possibly even fraudulent) system that I want nothing to do with in the course of my career.

This branch is embarrassing! It can't accept deposits today. Do yourself a favor and do business with a 21st century bank.
