I’ve genuinely been a very happy customer of Sandy Spring for over 25 years now, at least the entirety of my banking life. This bank has taken an absolutely abysmal turn over the past year and today just might have been my last straw.
This class act has 100% failure rate at updating their hours. I specifically made a trip up to this branch for previously always being open until 5pm unlike all of their other locations. I even double checked hours before making the trip to confirm nothing had changed. Despite trying to decipher a rather confusing series of temporary signage on the door, a new face from the staff that a I’ve seen there for at least a decade or more still decides to open the door and tell me nothing I already knew at this point. He directed me to walk up to the drive thru where another confused and upset customer was doing transactions on foot via drive thru.
It got worse when the teller over super broken-up intercom failed to provide a deposit slip and just expected me to throw several hundred dollars of cash in a tube with no additional instruction. When I asked her about a slip she seemed confused and not even particularly knowing what was going on. So I took my cash with me, knowing full well that not depositing today would result in a few more lovely overdraft fees tomorrow.
The cherry on top is that that family bank charm I’ve known for my 25 years here is getting literally kicked to the curb during this merge. All of the lovely personable staff I knew are gone and the physical signs of Sandy Spring Bank logo are out with it on the sidewalk as there new Atlantic Union signs are being installed. It’s almost too cheesy and poetic to be true. Like some awful Hallmark film.
Looking forward to the piece of mind when a I’ve withdrawn every last penny from my all of my personal AND business accounts with Sandy Spring [I guess Atlantic Union now]. Seeya.

Online (in Google) the branch shows open until 5:00 pm on Mondays. However, I arrived at 4:40 pm and it was already closed. The online information needs to be updated.
