    I will be closing my atlantic union account tomorrow! I was satisfied with Sandy Spring Bank. However, since the acquisition by atlantic union I have had two (2) problems in less than a week. First, when I used ATM's in the past I either used ATM's at Sandy Spring Banks, Royal Farm Stores, CVS, or other locations that were on the Allpoint network. I am very conscious of fees charged for the use of an ATM when accessing MY Funds. After the merger/acquisition I logged into the new atlantic union account and noticed ATM fees! After reaching out to atlantic I found out that atlantic ATMs are on the SUM network. I studied the SUM site and took note of all the SUM ATMs that I might use in my daily travels. Eventually, I used an ATM that was on the SUM network and made a withdraw. Later that day I discovered I was charged a fee for using that ATM!!!!! The ATM was listed on their site!!!! The next problem I had was using my debit card at Costco for gas. I use my Sandy Spring account for my regular day to day transactions; quick money (ATMs) to purchase snacks and things. I primarily use the card for gas. Many times the balance of the account is below one hundred ($100). And many, many, many times I have put gas in my vehicles at Costco with the balance of my account being under $100. I have NEVER spent more money than was available in my account! The first time that I attempted to put gas in my vehicle, after the switch/merger/acquisition my card was declined at the pump. Luckily, I had another card with me. I figured at the time that maybe there might be a problem with the Sandy Spring card now that there has been a transition. Never gave it another thought until yesterday when attempting to get gas at Costco. Again, authorization was declined. I immediately called atlantic union to see it there was a problem with my account. atlantic union indicated that the problem was with Costco. Skeptical, because many times, for years, in fact, I have used my Sandy Spring card to get gas knowing that there was less than $100 available. It was never a consideration!!! Contacted Costco, and as I suspected they do not put balance restrictions on authorizations. They indicated that the BANK sets those limits!!! Of course it makes sense. Contacted atlantic union again and they are still trying to tell me that Costco sets those limits. Even though in this problem the only thing that has changed is the bank! Have always put gas in my cars with less than $100 with no problem. The only thing that is different is Sandy Spring is now atlantic union. For the record, I combed through the terms and conditions of atlantic bank and there is no mention of minimum balances for debit cards in this type of situation. Suffice it to say, I am not satisfied with atlantic union. I have had two (2) problems that impact my day to day movements. I will be closing this account tomorrow.

    I have been with Sandy Spring Bank for over 25 years and I would never dream of leaving them. Without question, banking with a small town bank where they know you and your history, is priceless. Recently I spoke with Tony at the Severna Park branch, and the customer service was nothing short of 100%. Banking with Sandy Spring Bank is banking exactly as it should be; friendly, professional and helpful.

    I will gladly post the first review...The Senior Bank Associate Tammy is the most pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate employee there! She spent hours with me last week and assured me that she/they would do everything possible to resolve a mistake that was made. First and foremost, employees anywhere NEVER admit to mistakes, nonetheless a bank. For me it was not the mistake, it was Tammy's ability to apologize and resolve the issue. I am forever grateful to her for her superb customer service. She went absolutely ABOVE and BEYOND to help me. I do not normally bank with Sandy Spring, but if I could continue to have the warm and pleasant experience that I had with Tammy, I would undoubtedly open an account. Thank you Tammy! Thank you Sandy Spring Bank!
