For the last three months I have been attempting to get my loved one’s Power of Attorney loaded. My loved one has banked with Truist forever. However, three months later I am being run around from branch to branch. I have reached out to regional managers, communicated with customer advocate, you name it, and still Truist is putting their policy re: co-agents over my loved one’s legal power of attorney. My experience at the La Plata branch was the most upsetting. From the time we entered the bank, and mind you this is after the Accokeek branch sent us to La Plata, the branch manager wanted to act as legal counsel for Truist instead of as the branch manager. It took heated exchanges before she finally agreed to submit the POA for review. Despite the nature of our request, her tone was condescending and she even inferred that my loved one’s POA was not valid because it was not drafted by an estate lawyer for $3500 or so. I own a business that serves hundreds of small business owners and I could never imagine treating one of my clients like this. I am at Brandywine location again today, hoping to get this POA loaded as directed by their main office. I guess Truist just intends for my loved one’s account to go into probate as we have expressed she is in hospice care. No sense of urgency of compassion. If you have senior loved one with an account here, I highly recommend you encourage them to change accounts. Truist will not honor their legal POA if it does not meet their POA policy, particularly co-agents.
