- ARAmy RitterSep 29, 20251.0Terrible customer service on 09/29/2025 at around 3pm. I went in to ask about connecting external bank accounts. I was having trouble because Capital One keeps freezing my accounts due to me trying to connect them and I needed to verify the external ones over the phone even though I went through the small deposit verification process. They were not able to verify one of the accounts so I went in person to see if I could verify in person with account numbers, login, or anything. One of the women who was working (didn’t catch her name but the taller of the 2 that were standing when we entered) had said that unfortunately they have to do it in the back end and there was no way to verify in person. That’s fine however, the next thing she asks is “What bank is it? Where did you find it?” It is Varo Bank which is an online only bank that offers high APY savings account. Once I told her I found it online, she became very condescending and was like “I haven’t heard of that bank. Oh you can’t trust everything online.” I’m not sure if it was because I was with my mother at the time or if it was my looks, but I did not appreciate being treated like a kid when I am an adult. I would never sign up for a scam bank and I’m confident I would know what scams are like even more than her. I am neither under the age of 21 nor over 80 so I am not sure why I was treated like one. Just because she never heard of it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. She hadn’t even sat down and pulled up my account or anything to see what the problem I had with my account was. Overall, a very frustrating and unpleasant experience.
