- SMSonia Choksi MillsDec 4, 20251.0Worst service on phone, branch manager at Damascus was friendly when I went in to close my account. I decided to stay because of him but after taking my mom to the Olney branch we were both done. The wait time to get into a vault safety deposit was ridiculous, no customer service such as sorry for delay, or even a hello! Everyone waiting was upset and saying the same thing. This bank is not the same and we’re going somewhere else. I have had my acct since I was born and now at 48 I’m walking away as this new bank is not at the standards I am use to. It’s truly heartbreaking to leave and deal with another bank but this merger didn’t go well and all the employees look miserable so they won’t provide good service if there not happy to be part of the bank.

However, whoever is in charge in corporate and makes the rules needs to be fired. This bank is terrible with their new rules. They want an id for bank deposits. They want people to open all new accounts if you put anything into a trust. Now, we are looking for a new bank for all of our accounts. We were also told at the Frederick location that we have to go to the original location where we opened accounts to make any changes. It is asinine. There is too much competition to be dealing with such nonsense.
- JDJain D'EauOct 23, 20251.0I knew the takeover of Sandy Spring Bank (where I'd been a client for 20+ years) was bad news, but I had no idea how bad it would be. I was told by phone that I'd have to go to a branch personally to direct changes to a CD that matured (had to be done within 10 days), which was annoying enough. But it took at least 1hr35mins to open a smaller CD and get a cashier's check for the balance. Similar transactions in the past took 20-30 minutes. The rep needed phone support for every step, and had to run to a separate office multiple times to pick up print-outs. To top it off, there was a problem with the check printer. At one point it was suggested I go home and come back later to pick up the check! I don't blame the representative; the bank should have ensured that everyone is fully trained, and that all equipment is in working order and in a convenient location. Also, I found out that a key benefit from Sandy Spring is not available at Atlantic Union, so there's no reason to stay.
