- MCMary Beth CarterFeb 6, 20211.0I got a letter in October 2020 regarding my daughter's savings account that we opened when she was a baby. She's 23 now. The letter said now that she was 18 which was 5 years ago the account would be charged $5 per month unless it was converted to a regular savings account. She was away at school in October, November and December. We went to the bank today to take care of this and I asked if the bank would refund the now $20 total in fees and the woman said she could refund the current $5 but not the previous $15. I argued that it wasn't my daughters fault that the bank made some new change or that it was 5 years after she turned 18 or that she was out of state. The woman refused because she said I had a choice to close to close the account when the letter arrived. That isn't what my daughter wanted though and she was out of state and couldn't change the account until was back in Kentucky. Based on the woman's arguement the bank should have lost a customer because I should have closed the account in October. I thought the goal of banks was to have and retain customers. This woman was a jackass and should not be in a position that deals with people!
