Stock Yards Bank & Trust was founded in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1904 and is now the largest bank headquartered in Kentucky with more than 70 branches across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Today, we help individuals, families, and businesses with a complete line of financial services with a unique focus on banking with a personal touch. It’s not new—in fact, we call it “banking, the way it used to be.”
I’ve always recommended this bank to friends and family, but what happened to my wife and me at this branch @ 12900 Factory Ln, Anchorage, KY 40245 was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had. While I was filling out a slip, the teller — a woman of Indian origin who sits at the middle desk (with the desks on the right and left empty and another employee working in the back drive-through) — made completely inappropriate and racist comments toward my wife.
She questioned how my wife, “still in her thirties,” could have this money and even implied I was her “sugar daddy.” When my wife calmly explained that we’re married and the money is from our own hard work, the teller doubled down with more insulting remarks about “physical efforts.”
We felt humiliated, disgusted, and unsafe, so we quietly left rather than risk the situation escalating. Out of fear of being accused of something we didn’t do, we chose not to engage further.
At another branch, however, we were treated with respect and kindness by the manager there, which shows that not all employees behave this way. Unfortunately, this experience at [branch name] left a very negative impression and should not happen to anyone.
This review is not to spread negativity but to warn other customers and hopefully encourage the bank to take action. Everyone deserves to be treated with professionalism and respect, especially in a place where we trust our money.
