- KBKeith BancroftMay 27, 20191.0I bought a house in 2008 and in 2012 I PCSed . I called USAA to get insurance on my house because I was going to rent it. I told them I wanted insurance on my house to protect me from my renters if my house was damaged. They set me up with a policy and i made every payment on time. When I retired and moved back home I found my house had been destroyed. I put new floors in before I PCSed, New paint, and updated the bathroom. All the appliances where less than 3 years old. I was renting to soldiers and i was trying to do them right. Well any way when I got home like i said my house was destroyed. The siding on thr garage was ripped off, the back side of the house they used to shoot bb guns at, the base board, door trim was broken in nearly every room, almost every door needed to be replaced, large holes in the walls. When I called usaa to make a claim they sent out someone to look at the house. They gave me an estimate for $2000.00 and told me that I had a $2000.00 deductible. So i called a contractor to get my house fixed. They gave me an estimate for $10,000.00. I sent it to usaa. They called me a couple days later and told me that I had the wrong insurance and they were going to refund me my money for the last 4years and they were going to drop me and after everything was fixed I could get insurance with them again.
