  If you are thinking of opening an account with Citi, don’t! My experience with this branch and the general customer service has been sadly disappointing. The process of opening the account was hectic, the banker was having trouble reading the documents correctly and causing huge waste of time. Then the teller can’t distinguish checking account from saving account. They deposited money into the wrong account, after I explicitly said otherwise, causing me to overdrew my accounts. Basically almost no one can do their job properly. It wouldn’t surprise me that one day I’ll get locked out of my account and no one can/will help. Moving my money to other banks.

  This had to be one of the longest transactions in recorded banking history. I had to cancel out my previous debit card out a few days prior, due to fraud, and because I didn't have a debit card, the Banker had to enter all of my information manually, had me jump through several hoops, which took the Banker 25-27 minutes to complete the transaction. I was on my way to a store and then to work, but with the transaction taking so long, I didn't have time to go to the store, and had to hurry to work just to make it on time. The other location on 87th Street and Stoney Island was able to give me cash a couple of days ago, within 5 minutes. I wish I had never attempted to get cash from the Citibank location on 55th and Ellis. The University makes it hard to access and the customer service in terms of wait and transaction time is the worst! Those on a time schedule, beware and avoid!

  Extremely Disappointed — Worst Banking Experience Ever I’ve only been a Citibank customer for two weeks and it’s already been a nightmare. When I opened my account, I was told I could go into any branch to receive a temporary debit card — not true. I had to wait 7 days to get the card by mail. Once I received the card and set up my online account, I tried to send money to my mom and daughter via Zelle, as I’ve done for years — it failed. Customer service incorrectly told me neither of them had Zelle (which is false). Then I tried doing a Citi-to-Citi transfer (they both also bank with Citi), and that failed too. I was transferred multiple times to different reps, many of whom could barely communicate effectively in English and had no clue how to help. I kept being told to “try again in 24–48 hours” — over and over. It’s now been over a week, and I still cannot access my money at ATMs or make purchases. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told my issue had been sent to a “back office” team that doesn’t take phone calls or speak to customers directly. Absolutely unacceptable. No resolution, no transparency, no real customer service. I’m closing my account and moving my money elsewhere. Citibank has completely failed me. Avoid banking here — they are disorganized, misleading, and unresponsive.
