If you are an overseas student studying at the University of Chicago, and you need a local bank during your studies, make sure you withdraw all your money before you leave. If you don’t have a social security number Citibank makes it very hard for you to access your account after you leave. Then they charge a monthly fee until all your funds are taken. The staff are friendly but the rules they have to follow block them from helping you. If you think your money is safe in a bank, think again. Well, Thank you ‘Brian’. I have submitted a long letter summarising everything I have submitted - updated passport, phone number, KYC, etc but I am still being charged a monthly fee despite not being able to access my account as no ATM card has been issued. People put their money in banks for safekeeping, not to be stolen slowly…
