  I've banked with Byline for almost 10 years and my experience has generally been good. The staff at the Division & Damen location has always been friendly and helpful when I had questions and the customer service line has been the same. The reason for giving 3 stars is because Byline's technology, from the ATM to how they handle 3rd party services like Venmo or CashApp, and until recently their online banking app which has improved dramatically, feels like it's stuck in 2002. For example the ATM deposit still, after 20 years of the technology existing, does not take cash deposits that are counted while being fed into the machine and requires an envelope that a person needs to collect before counting as deposited. So if I deposit cash on a weekend it doesn't go into my account until Monday or if I make a cash deposit after hours on a weekday to cover a negative balance, it doesn't count and there's an overdraft fee. Another issue that is absolutely ridiculous is they don't do 3rd party app verification so if you connect a Venmo account it won't allow Venmo to verify your account # to make direct transfers to the bank same day. The only option is to use the debit card which takes 1-3 business days as if you're being refunded from a store purchase. It will even show in your account balance but isn't available for use. I recently had this come up when I transferred money to cover a charge on my account that I couldn't get to the bank to cover it because I was out of town. It showed as available but I got a $36 fee and when I called they gave me a nonsensical explanation that even though it said it was available and the account was positive it doesn't mean it's in the account to cover the charge. When I explained that was obviously misleading the person has no clear explanation other than it wasn't in there before the pending charge cleared. If that's the case why could I spend that money that wasn't supposed to be there? It's a loophole they still haven't fixed and it's technologically behind every major bank. Maybe people won't care about these things but for anyone that wants a bank that has features that are inline with 2025 I would look elsewhere because Byline isn't that bank and I'm finally switching after dealing with these shortcomings again.

  Horrible bank. They are clearly going under and not telling anyone. Their paltry customer service is full of ill-informed rude people and they have no 24 hr customer service line so if they randomly block your card right after your account was opened, like they did to me, you're just screwed. They also promised I would have early access to my direct deposit like I used to with my olf bank and when I called in about that the rep blamed my HR department. Do yourself a favor/save yourself a headache and look elsewhere for a bank because this one won't be around for much longer and while it is the service is lousy.

  Hate coming here. Always poor poor customer experience. Every other branch always willing to help and go that extra mile... Not here. Atm is the only good thing there.

  BEST BANK in THE NEIGHBORHOOD! personalized service - whenever I stop in or call, they know me by name. No problem is too small or a bother. much better than the "big banks" any day! Branch manager will personally help if there is any issue, and the fees are much lower than what I ever paid before. Good people.
