I had the pleasure of speaking with Aleatha Bass. She was AMAZING! Super helpful and made a stressful situation not stressful at all. She was personable and courteous.

Went to cash in u.s bonds at the branch in Romeoville. Signed the bonds and since no address change i put same as front. The Teller mention I had to put my address on the each bond even if there is no change in address so I did i wrote large She didn't care for it. she went on to mentioned she wasn't going to cashed them so I called the manager over and he said things have changed when in fact they have not .i .look up the web-site and they have not changed as long as the address is the same. Signature and same as front is sufficient. She then requested i take a seat..when it was time to receive my funds she shouts across the room how would you like the fund...poor customer service 🤔.

When Old Second took over Evergreen Bank, it somehow managed to turn a competent local institution into a full-blown circus of incompetence. The merger clearly replaced knowledgeable staff with people who either don’t respond to emails or have no idea how to resolve even the simplest customer requests.
Their online banking system is a joke — easily the worst I’ve used in 20 years. I have a HELOC, and guess what? In 2025, I still have to physically go to the branch to make a payment because they haven’t figured out how to enable online payments. It’s like banking with a museum exhibit from the 1800s.
Every interaction feels like they’ve gone out of their way to make things slower, clunkier, and less helpful. If this merger was supposed to create “synergy,” the only thing it synergized was customer frustration.
Old Second Bank is a textbook example of how not to run a modern financial institution.
