When I got to the counter, the teller was off putting and she seemed distracted (as she was having a conversation with the teller next to her during my transaction). Whenever I told her I needed to cash the check without a bank account, her face went immediately sour as I could tell this happens quite often with them. She told me it was going to be $8 fee to cash my check which was less than $50. As I read the signs posted near them, I already knew this was going to be the case. I obliged and went along my way. After speaking with the person who gave me the check, they informed me that I should not have been charged the $8 and the branch in Evans, GA settled the issue immediately. The company doesn't seem too bad, but the fatuous women behind the teller counter will definitely make you think twice about banking here... It's unfortunate that this is the only branch in Athens.

- CSChristopher StephensMay 24, 20165.0I have been banking with South State Bank since before it was South State Bank I haven't been with them since they were Bulldog Bank and Trust Community Bank & Trust I've been with them since 2007 I absolutely enjoy the people who work there I have built a friendship I don't feel like I'm just a customer anymore they are truly good people that work there I'm sure some have had bad experiences and yes it is an inconvenience at times that it's hard to find ATMs and hard to get money out if you are out of state butt for a small town like Athens it is a great Bank keep up the great work
