Makes a lot of sense to charge the poor this fee and waive it for the wealthy. I will be changing bank's it will be a huge inconvenience but I live on a very strict budget and can't afford to lose $15 a month.

I worked for Great Western, then First Union so I'm pretty familiar with check holds on a large deposit. Not the problem, the problem is receiving a receipt showing a partial availability of deposit and the release of final funds statement. Like many on here I was appalled at the at the time I stood waiting at the front of the line before being addressed. The bank sent a survey, I gave my opinion of the transaction. I was called and message was left to return the call to the branch manager. I tried. No answer and no ability to leave a message. My partial release of funds , this was a Union Annuities account in a large Florida bank , was reversed the day after . Only explanation the customer service representative gave me was that it was flagged for unusual account activity. I received no communication from the bank . The funds were available for 24 hrs , then disappeared. My account shows that the bank will hold All of the deposit for the full 9 days. Beware thinking you have funds from a deposit receipt. They could reverse it with no communication. I will never answer a survey or step foot in that branch again . Time to seriously consider a new bank . A shame after so many years of being a loyal customer.
