- SSSarkisApr 25, 20251.0I tried to close my checking account that I opened online with a Truist bank promotion. The lady I spoke to was trying to get me to keep the bank account open. I kept insisting that I wanted to close it. She then told me I should keep $10 in the account to keep it open. I told her I wasn't interested. So she continues with withdrawing my money and closing the account. She then comes back with a check for me to sign and I noticed she did not withdraw the full amount, she left $500 in the account. I told her the amount is wrong and she claimed it was a mistake. Then she came back and said I was unable to withdraw the money from my checking account or close my account until the following Monday - as my account was opened online electronically and the bank could not verify me (BS excuse). So I left and called Truist customer service and they told me everything I was told by the bank clerk was incorrect. So I went back to the bank with the customer service on the phone and then all the sudden they could magically withdraw my money and close the account. I would definitely not recommend this bank as they blatantly lie directly to your face and seem sketchy. 0/10.
