- TNTanvir Ahmed (Nishir)Jan 5, 20261.0Very disappointing experience at this TD Bank branch. On January 4, 2026 around 11:30 AM, my mother and I visited the TD Bank at 1660 SW St. Lucie West Blvd, Port St. Lucie to open a checking account. The banker was Luciana White. My mother is a U.S. citizen with a valid SSN and Florida ID, but she is not fluent in English and cannot write English. She brought me with her to help communicate, with her full consent. The banker refused to allow me to assist, stated they could not open an account unless they could “directly communicate” with her, and said that if she could not read English, she could not sign documents. No interpreter or accommodation was offered. She was also asked about a green card, country of birth, and foreign passport, despite being a U.S. citizen with valid U.S. ID. This was unnecessary and uncomfortable. My mother has opened accounts at other banks with reasonable assistance. This experience was surprising and unacceptable. Non-English-speaking customers should not be denied basic banking services without accommodation.
