- MMMaivyAug 14, 20241.0Can anyone explain how a bank has the legal right to put a 7+ days hold on a check, without any logical reason? I wrote a check to myself on 8/6 and deposited it to my business account, as of today 8/14 it shows as "fund availability delay" 8/13-I called customer services and I was told "for some reason, the verification departments put this hold". What does "some reason" means in banking language? First: these funds were available AND released from my other bank, the same day I made the deposit. Second: you would think they already know that is completely normal on a business account to have a high traffic of large deposits and withdrawals and the availability and update of all transactions are crucial. I called again today and had the same answer plus no intentions to release the funds; meanwhile, I got charged for RETURNED ITEM FEE not to mention that now I have to call my vendors/customers, apologize for their bounced checks, refund them for any fee their bank charged them and re-write this checks from my personal account so THANK YOU TRUIST!
