My client moved and was switching banks from Bank of Ozarks to my institution. Dealing with Bank of the Ozarks was nearly impossible after her father’s passing. She deposited a personal check at my institution for around 150,000 and then wrote a letter to close out her account at the Ozark and I notarized it. She was told the remaining balance in her account was going to be kept as a fee because they didn’t want to mail a check for .50 cents. (Even though the account had a hefty balance that never received fees) This is one instance among others where they didn’t follow bank federal regulations.
