At Truist, our purpose is to inspire and build better lives and communities. That happens through real care to make things better. To meet client needs, to empower teammates, and to lift up communities.
As an active member of the community, I have a very strong belief to support the businesses where I live. With that being said, I made the decision to move my banking to Truist in the Del Mar Plaza, Manalapan. On March 24th at 9:40am I entered the bank, introduced my self to the different associates, since no one looked up from their phones to greet me upon my arrival. I asked to speak with the branch manager regarding opening some accounts. I was introduced to Lisa Simpson. Lisa came across as friendly caring and knowledgeable, as we discussed my needs today and in the very near future. Lisa Simpson opened the first account knowing that two large CD’s would be transferred to Truist within 60 days. I left a happy client.
A few hours later when I went to set up the Truist app on my phone, I saw Truist was offering a $400 bonus on the account Lisa Simpson just opened for me. I went back to the branch to talk with Lisa Simpson. I told her what I saw when I went to down load the app and asked why I was not offered the bonus. Lisa Simpson’s demeanor instantly changed and she snapped back, That's for new accounts opened on line only and she is never told when the marketing team is offering that. When I called her out on the fact that she probably did know because a good manager would check the on line offers daily to know what they are up against each day. I politely asked for the bonus I deserve. She said it can not be done. I asked to close my newly opened account, was no can do! Has to wait for the check I deposited to clear in 10 days and the entire transaction could not be voided. Later that day I found out it could be voided the same day! I asked for the name and contact information for the regional manager and Lisa Simpson told me she is not permitted to give that out and she will have the regional manager call me. After about 10 days I went back to the bank and Lisa Simpson acted surprised I don’t not hear back yet and she would escalate the matter. I went back 7 days later to report back still no word. This I got Lisa Simpson to tell me the regionals name, Bobbette Bodden. I called customer service next and I was put through to Bobbette Borden’s voice mail.
I asked Bobbette Bodden to please return my call. 5 days later I left another voicemail. As of Monday April 28th 4:30 pm no return call. At that time I called Lisa Simpson to make sure the branch has the full amount of my money available in cash at 9:00 the next morning as I will be coming in to withdraw most of it and as soon as some automatic payments clear I am done with a bank that has a manager who does not know who their neighbors are, lies to my face and a regional manager who knows nothing about customer care. 5th Third, TD Bank, CitiBank all have higher customer ratings and offering very good bonus incentives for new accounts as well. Good luck Lisa Simpson and Bobbette Bodden. Truist, whatever you did with the old BB&T signage you should have done with the old BB&T staff.
