  I feel like I was lied to all the way around. I had went online to open a checking account and it said if opened online, it would qualify for a $200 sign up bonus. So I clicked to open account, the very next screen said for an additional $200 bonus, open and link the new checking account with a new savings account. Well I went through the process and it tells me that I couldn't complete it online and to go to the nearest TD Bank branch. So I go, explain what happened and was told that since I didn't open it online, the account wouldn't qualify for the bonus even though it was no fault of my own that it wouldn't let me do it online. But I was told to still call customer service after my direct deposit is a cleared transaction in the account. Direct deposit goes in and it clears on the 3rd. I called the next day or the 5th, went through the whole process of explaining it again to a very nice young man. The next day, someone from their "Promotions" department calls me, and I again explain the situation. He then tells me "Oh yeah, this has happened before, and we can fix that. I'll put your account on a list to be reviewed and there shouldn't be any problem." Here's where the lie comes in: on their website it clearly said once a qualifying deposit is made, the bonus will be paid out directly to the account with 15 business days. The rep from their "promotions" department said it wouldn't even be reviewed for 100 days, and then pay out would probably be ANOTHER 180 days after that!! I feel that they do this to a lot of new or potential customers so they don't have to pay out the bonuses. I chose TD because I thought they were a decent bank, from what I had heard. I definitely wish I would have stayed with my credit union.
